New year brings new options for all at The Heights, Durack.

It’s shaping up to be an exciting year at The Heights, Durack with Darwin’s newest child care centre and over 55s retirement village set to open at the popular Peet community.

The 103-place child care centre, Top End Buddies, and retirement village, Durack Gardens, will add to the amenities already available at The Heights, Durack with the community centre, a number of parks and primary school all located on the steps of Charles Darwin University and just minutes from Palmerston town centre.

Top End Buddies director Matt Kibble said he is looking forward to opening their first centre in the Northern Territory.

“We’re a family owned business with three successful childcare centres in Victoria,” Matt explained.

“Our overall philosophy at Top End Buddies will be learning through play-based experiences,” he said. “We believe that children should be encouraged to explore their individual talents, personalities, skills and interests and so we’ll work to create as many opportunities as possible for children to explore, create, dig, build, swing, touch, listen and watch.”

The $35 million Durack Gardens will offer a new level of lifestyle for over 55s. The retirement village is being developed by local companies in a joint venture between McMahon Services and Northern Commercial Constructions. The homes are being built by GJ Gardner Homes Darwin and when completed will be managed by experienced local operator Greenfields Living.

McMahon NCC Developments Director David Cvirn said they are focused on providing residents what they want and deserve. Durack Gardens will provide independent living within a luxurious tropical setting and offer a real community spirit,” Mr Cvirn said.

There will be an exciting choice of 60 high-quality, two and three bedroom homes that have been designed for residents who are looking to fully enjoy their retirement. Each one of the spacious residences will offer energy efficient open plan living, your own driveway, lock up garages and private alfresco area surrounded in a lush garden setting.

The village will also have its own centrally located community centre that is set to be fully fitted out with multi-purpose function rooms, gymnasium, library, lounge areas, pool table and a large modern kitchen.

The stunning outdoor facilities at Durack Gardens include a modern inground swimming pool, putting green, games lawn, water features, internal pathways, barbecue, communal landscaped gardens and recreational areas, all perfect for relaxing or catching up with family and friends.
